ABOUT US

New Life was established in 1994 as a male quartet. The members consisted of four men from the same church who together had the same vision and desire of ministering through song. As the ministry progressed over the next few years, the opportunities to minister expanded which in hand brought a change of direction for New Life. In 1999, the group became a mixed trio and has remained through todays current members of Toby Siler, Christi Siler, and Aaron Ballard.

Toby is the only remaining, original member of the group. “The Lord called me to sing as a young boy,” he says, “but, I never dreamed He would bring me this far.”  The first time Toby sang in a singing group was at the young age of five years old. “The men’s quartet at church wanted to sing the Kingsmen song, ‘Excuses’.” Toby recalls. “The lead singer could not remember all of the words, and since I would listen to that song all day everyday, I knew the song, word perfect.” With that beginning, God put a love for gospel music in Toby’s heart that is stronger than ever.

As before mentioned, in 1999, the group moved from a male quartet to a mixed trio. Toby’s lovely wife, Christi, came in to fill the alto position and has been there ever since. “I am so thankful that God has allowed me to sing alongside my wife every night for the past 8 years.”, he says. “She has been the glue that holds us all together, and I can’t imagine doing this without her.”

In 2002, God brought another blessing (or two) upon Toby & Christi. September 8, 2002, Toby & Christi became the proud parents of beautiful boy/girl twins, Jarrod Montgomery & Jewel Maganda. “I am so glad to have my entire family with me on the bus each week.”, Toby states. “I want to instill in them, at a young age, the same love for southern gospel music that God gave me years ago. Jarrod & Jewel come up on stage every night to sing and quote Bible verses, which is a special treat for each crowd we sing to.”

Christi is the first, and only, female to ever take the stage with New Life.  Christi and Toby were married several years before she accepted the position as alto.  She reminisces about their courtship, "Toby and I were high school sweethearts and he's been singing ever since I've known him. In the early years of our marriage it was difficult for me to be at home while New Life was on the road; in a sense, I felt left out. I now realize the Lord was instilling in me a desire to travel and sing."

Christi feels very blessed to have the opportunity to travel with her family and encourage believers in their walk with Christ. "We meet so many wonderful people on the road that welcome us into their churches and their lives just like we're family. God's people are amazing!"

You can be sure there's never a dull moment on the bus with five-year-old twins! Christi says most of the time Aaron, Hannah, Hailee, Jarrod, Jewel, Toby and herself all have loads of fun together, but "when times do get tough the best encouragement is remembering the card or email I've received from someone battling cancer or divorce or financial distress that says the Lord has given them comfort and strength through one of our songs." She adds, "That's why we do what we do. It's not normal to pack your kids up and travel the country 2-3 days a week and sometimes weeks at a time. I truly believe it's a God-given desire and that I could not be truly happy if I didn't obey this calling on my life."

Aaron Ballard rounds out the line-up for New Life by singing the baritone part. Aaron was born, raised, and still today resides in Anderson, IN. He is married to Hannah and they have a little daughter Hailee. Aaron states, 'the best part of being apart of New Life, is the fact my family is able to travel along as we minister across the country. For that I am very thankful!!'

Aaron has sang with and filled-in for various groups over the past decade, and has gained some very valuable experience from sharing the stage with some of todays well know artists.

Now that you have been informed about New Life and its members. You can be assured that one thing has never changed:  their enjoyment and desire of singing and sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ has never been compromised!
